Company Description: Ireland is famous for its beer and in times past every town in the country had its own brewery. In the late nineteenth century, brewing became a mass production industry and by the 1990's only four brewing companies remained, all large and all foreign controlled.
Against this background, our founder, Dr Peadar Garvey, an industrial chemist who also owned a pub, was looking for new challenges. He launched The Biddy Early Brewery to provide drinkers with an alternative to the mass produced beers available.
The brewery is still run by the Garvey family and continues Peadar's ethos of producing small quantities of carefully crafted beers using only natural ingredients. The success of our beers has enabled us to expand our brewery and we have expanded our capacity over tenfold from what it was in 1995 - the brew batch size remains the same though so we still pay the same attention to quality.
Whereas we started supplying our beers only through our own pub we are now satisfying demand from further afield. Our new visitor centre also lets visitors get involved and shows them why we believe brewing is not just a science but is also a craft.
